How do I lead change?

Our belief is that transforming our society requires leaders who can see the world with a gospel shaped vision and have the skills and character to work to make this a reality. We do this by providing a unique educational experience.

Our Residential Program

Our residential fellowship program runs for three months on our beautiful rural property just outside Canberra, Australia. Fellows develop a foundation in theology, history and political philosophy as a basis for understanding the ideas that shape our public sphere.

Program Curriculum

As our centre’s flagship offering, our residential fellowships are designed to develop intellectual rigour, discernment, and character formation. Classes unlock centuries of Christian theological insight into theology, law, government and good policy-making.

Fellows sharpen their thinking by reading primary sources of formative theological, social, and political theorists and participating in small discussion-based seminars. After laying foundations in theology and intellectual history, seminars progress into topics ranging across law, economics, Australian political history, bioethics, art history, strategic thinking, and personal effectiveness. Fellows also undertake skills-based training in public speaking, debating, writing for specific audiences (op-ed, speeches, précis, and briefs), and media presentation.

Our teachers include professors from Australia’s top universities, elite public policy analysts, media specialists, and church and business leaders. Dinner guests regularly include former and serving parliamentarians, among them former and current cabinet members.

Each fellowship also involves work-experience in key areas of government. Graduates join an active network of alumni already shaping the future direction of Australia.

LMI Homestead. Murrumbateman, NSW

The course is a residential fellowship conducted at our purpose facility in Murrumbateman (30 minutes drive outside Canberra, Australia).

The program includes a large number of in-person interactions with politicians and public leaders as well as a focus on developing practical skills and character. This means that we don’t offer any remote learning or part-time options for our fellowship programs.

Autumn 2024

24th March – 6th July

Summer 2024

17th Nov – 22nd Feb

Course Fees

While the course costs LMI approximately $30,000 per delegate (including accommodation, meals and tuition), the majority of this fee is covered by a scholarship which is automatically awarded to each successful delegate.

A remaining amount of $6,000 is payable by the individual.

While we believe this fee is an important contribution towards the unique education we provide, we also understand that some could find it inhibitive. If this is you, please get in touch with us for a further conversation.

“My time on the Leadership and Civil Society residential was nothing short of life changing. From unpacking questions like what are human beings and what are they for? To what should good government look like? I was immersed in personalised teaching of the highest calibre. As a result, the effect of culture on society, particularly where it has come from, where it is going and what ideas shape it, was cleverly revealed to me. Culture influences politics, politics influences law, law governs what we can and cannot do. I have been equipped with skills and strategies to influence culture in both my professional and personal spheres for Christ’s glory. As I discovered, if you have questions, you will find answers. However, the greatest treasures I received from my time at the Lachlan Macquarie Institute were the lifelong and life changing friendships. Only God could have orchestrated such an experience.”
