As part of the vision to develop leaders in public life, the Lachlan Macquarie Internship runs a program on behalf of the Australian Christian Lobby which offers pastors and church leaders an opportunity to network and discuss how the Gospel’s message can impact political and cultural leadership.

Spaces are limited on this three day course to ensure an intimate teaching environment for pastors with Christian parliamentarians, researchers, law experts and theologians.

This program empowers church leaders with a greater understanding of the Church/State relationship, the political and legal processes, and the social impact the church can have on society. It will challenge and equip you to think strategically about issues facing Christians in Australia and around the world.

The course is offered in a picturesque location on the outskirts of Canberra. Some of the program’s components are:

- Theology of political and cultural engagement

- Thinking Strategically

- Understanding and influencing the democratic process

- How to influence wider culture to reflect Biblical Principles

- Federal Parliament meetings

"I found the Engaging politics three-day pastors’ course to be the most challenging, thought-provoking, theologically stimulating refresher course I have been involved in for many a long year. The opportunity to be involved in a truly interactive atmosphere with other significant ministers and pastors from around Australia was a very unique and satisfying experience for us all. The lecturers were all of a very high quality and appropriate standard intellectually, educationally, and spiritually, and were clearly masters of the subjects they were presenting to us. The beautiful scenery & comfortable ‘lounge-chairs by the fire' only added to the conducive learning atmosphere. There was truly a ‘spirit of excellence’ in the conduct of this course. I heartily recommend it to ministers everywhere."

- Pastor John Macknamara, Former National Convenor, ACAP

"The Engaging Politics (Papacstor Course) has been a real eye opener to the work of the Australian Christian Lobby and Lachlan Macquarie Internship. The quality of these days away with some of the best teachers and thinkers was like no other Pastors course I have attended. Challenging and informative it gave us an insight into the issues of political engagement and some tools to communicate and engage in the political scene with wisdom, dignity and respect. I would recommend this course to pastors and church leaders who want to be informed, challenged and equipped. This course has the potential to make a real difference in the local political scene."
